It’s as if they think we at the MeowBit team have a button on our computer screens marked “IMPLEMENT NEW FUNCTIONALITY NOW INTO BETA WORLDWIDE NON-DISTRIBUTED DNS SYSTEM” and we just have to type in their idea and hit that button. lol.

People have to understand that rolling out software (and adoption of that software) is a process and you have to start somewhere. It’s hard to make and test improvements, but without rolling out a beta, those improvements cannot happen.

It’s kind of like if, in the late 1800s, Alexander Graham Bell had released his telephone and people had said “We’re not interested in this unless we can carry it in our pocket, watch movies on it and type to anyone in the world. Let us know when you’ve got THAT!”

WHERE’S THE MONEY GOING?

Good question. Here’s the BREAKDOWN OF WHERE THE FUNDS WILL GO:

35%: Compensation for marketing guy Michael W. Dean to allow him to work as much as possible on publicizing MeowBit and Dot-Bit for as long as possible.

30%: Compensation for programmer Derrick Slopey to allow him to work as much as possible on improving MeowBit for as long as possible. He will also be the project coordinator with other programmers, as well as the help forum main admin.

15%: Rewards for other programmers who help perfect the MeowBit, improve MeowBit and Dot-Bit functionality in general.  Also a little of this money will go for better web design, graphics, video editing, etc.

5%: Advertising. Including on Free Talk Live, a popular US nationally syndicated / international radio show that is very cryptocurrency friendly, and so is their audience.

15%: Misc / prudent reserve for unexpected expenses / legal expenses / extra cloud hosting if we get suddenly slammed with traffic, etc.

CAN YOU GET THIS DONE IF YOU DON’T REACH YOUR FULL GOAL?

We will work on this as hard as we can with whatever funds we raise. But to really hit it out of the park, $50,000 is what we feel we’d need.

If we pass our goal, we will work longer on this. The more money we raise, the better we can make the software, and the more we can spread it. Widespread adoption of this is paramount to its success.

WHY SHOULD I GIVE YOU GUYS MONEY?

As a Namecoin-based project, MeowBit is part of a significant ecosystem of software which can benefit from improvements.  Because what’s good for Namecoin is good for MeowBit, and what’s good for MeowBit is good for Namecoin.

Just getting to our current MeowBit beta has been an immense undertaking. But we’d like to go much further, to do the “work under the hood” that the average user never sees, but that results in a system that could solve many of the problems currently experienced in the entire Internet. We need to do a lot of heavy lifting to not just build an impermeable shell around this new system, but to harden the system itself into that worldwide walled fortress for freedom.

But we also take this down to complex frame-level surgical engineering that will make MeowBit effortless to use and incredibly valuable to everyone worldwide who uses the Internet.

Think about what a massively complex system Google is. Now think about what the average user sees: just a simple search box on a mostly blank page. We’re not postulating that MeowBit will grow to be as complex as Google, but the analogy is apt.
